New Website Launched to Mark FGMA’s 50th Anniversary
The Flat Glass Manufacturers’ Association (FGMA) has launched a new website as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations.
The organisation represents companies that manufacture flat glass in the UK and internationally, which include Saint-Gobain Glass UK and Pilkington United Kingdom Ltd.
The FGMA promotes best practice in product performance, flat glass design and the application of flat glass. It encourages its members to develop industry standards and technical guidelines for the benefit of building designers, specifiers, government, regulators, glass processors, window fabricators and façade installers, which are all available on the new website.
Mike Butterick, is Chairman of the FGMA and Marketing Director for Saint-Gobain Glass says: “The FGMA should be proud to have been an important part of the industry for 50 years. The new website is part of a wider plan to raise the profile of the organisation even further and continue to comment on and provide technical guidance on current issues within the industry."
“Our aim is to educate stakeholders on how high-performance flat glass can positively enhance society through tangible benefits to wellbeing, health, sustainability and contribution to the UK’s economy by publishing authoritative and trusted Positioning Papers and Technical Guidance Documents.”
Current issues that are important to the glazing industry and wider built environment, which the FGMA will comment on and provide technical guidance include: Window Energy Ratings, Risk Assessments and Glazing at Height, BS 6180, Nickel Sulphide, Approved Document Q, Approved Document L, and Heat Soaked Thermally Toughened – Applicable Standards.
